What if a beauty magazine could come to life as a video series?

Discover the Beauty Within proposes an expansive magazine-style show covering the many ways people look and feel their best—from emerging trends and celebrity style to expert advice, makeovers, everyday beauty problems and product recommendations.

Hosted by Desi, the promotional sizzle introduces a flexible lifestyle format designed to meet viewers wherever they are, with practical guidance for everything from frizzy hair and skincare to professional looks and dramatic transformations.

How it was made

Discover the Beauty Within was developed as an early proposal for a Walgreens beauty series. Before there was a pilot, I needed to give the client a clear sense of the show's personality, scope and potential.

I conceived it as the video equivalent of a beauty magazine: a format broad enough to include trendsetters, makeup artists, hairstylists, celebrity looks, viewer questions, product guidance and even a mobile makeover bus.

There was no completed series to promote, so the sizzle had to make a hypothetical show feel real.

I built the piece from a collage of material gathered from several sources. Roughly half of the footage had been shot by our team at HealthiNation—including footage I had filmed—while the rest gave me the additional range needed to suggest a much larger beauty world.

The primary creative work happened in the edit. I wrote the narrative, selected and organized the imagery, and used montage, pacing and juxtaposition to turn disparate footage into one coherent promise of what the series could become.

The proposal generated enough interest for Walgreens to ask for a more concrete example, which led me to develop the Beautiful You pilot.

The sizzle didn't document an existing show. It made the client believe the show already had a world.
