Fall is approaching, and Walgreens beauty advisor Jennifer has one seasonal essential in mind: lip gloss.
In this pilot for Beautiful You, Jennifer explains how to choose a moisturizing gloss, find a rich fall shade and apply it without bleeding or losing the sleek finish.
From ingredients such as avocado oil and vitamin E to the benefits of applying gloss with a lip brush, the episode combines approachable beauty advice with the product knowledge viewers could find at Walgreens.
Beautiful You grew out of a larger presentation proposing original content for Walgreens. The potential slate included beauty programming alongside patient-facing content concerning conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
The first step had been Discover the Beauty Within, a promotional sizzle I created to establish the feeling and range of a magazine-style beauty series. After Walgreens responded positively and wanted to see more, we needed to turn that broad promise into a practical pilot.
For Beautiful You, we narrowed the concept into a concise, repeatable service format. Each installment could feature a Walgreens beauty advisor offering useful guidance about a product category: what to look for, which options might suit the viewer and how to use the products effectively.
This pilot focuses on fall lip gloss, moving efficiently from product benefits and seasonal colors to application techniques and a final professional tip.
I produced and directed the shoot, co-wrote the material, edited the finished piece and created its motion-graphics package. The goal was to demonstrate a format that could feature Walgreens products naturally while still functioning as useful beauty content rather than a conventional commercial.
The sizzle established the world; Beautiful You demonstrated how that world could become a repeatable series.
