What if some of your beauty essentials could come from your kitchen instead of the cosmetics aisle?

Homemade Beauty is an original HealthiNation series exploring natural, DIY alternatives to store-bought beauty products. Each episode demonstrates an approachable homemade treatment, showing viewers how familiar ingredients can become part of a simple beauty and self-care routine.

I created the series as part of a broader slate of HealthiNation beauty and wellness programming, complementing shows including Girl Talk and our dermatologist-led content.

How it was made

I conceived and wrote Homemade Beauty as an original addition to HealthiNation’s growing beauty and wellness slate, developing the format from concept through finished series.

Because we were producing an entire run of approximately five to ten episodes, I designed the shoot around efficiency rather than producing each episode sequentially from beginning to end.

The production was broken into components. Intros and outros were captured together, while the beauty preparation and application demonstrations were filmed separately in batches. That allowed us to move efficiently through setups, talent and production requirements and capture an entire season’s worth of material in a single production day.

After the shoot, I edited the complete series, assembling those modular components into individual episodes and creating the motion-graphics package that gave the videos a consistent visual identity.

That end-to-end workflow was typical of the programming I developed at HealthiNation: I conceived the series, wrote the content, designed the production approach, directed the work with a crew, and then carried the material through editorial and graphics to the finished videos.
