Bestselling author David Baldacci invites us into his world to discuss One Good Deed, his approach to storytelling, and the craft behind a career spanning dozens of novels.
Filmed at Baldacci’s office in the Washington, D.C. area, the episode takes the audience beyond the book itself—offering a more personal introduction to the writer, his process and the environment in which his stories take shape.
Meet the Author was a recurring format I developed to turn my interviews with Hachette authors into more personal profiles—giving readers an opportunity to meet the person behind the book rather than simply watch another promotional interview.
For David Baldacci, I traveled to his office in the Washington, D.C. area and filmed him in his own working environment. The location became part of the storytelling, allowing the interview and supporting footage to reveal something about his personality and creative process that a studio setup couldn't provide.
That was central to the series: whenever possible, I wanted to enter the author’s world and use the interview, environment and observational footage together to create a concise portrait of the person behind the work.
