What inspired Tia Williams to write Seven Days in June?
Williams discusses the ideas that sparked her second-chance romance—from her fascination with “the one who got away” to imagining what might happen if two intensely connected teenage lovers separated, grew up, and unexpectedly found each other again years later.
Her answer offers a glimpse into the creative starting point behind Eva and Shane’s story and the emotional premise that ultimately became Seven Days in June.
This video reflects the content strategy I used when developing many of my author interviews at Hachette: write questions that can generate substantial, self-contained stories rather than short promotional answers.
Asking Tia Williams what inspired Seven Days in June gave her an opportunity to tell the story behind the story—creating a piece that could stand on its own while still naturally introducing audiences to the novel.
I developed interviews this way intentionally. A strong question could become an individual video with its own subject, title and audience value, allowing a single production to generate multiple focused pieces of content.
Rather than looking for ways to repurpose an interview after it was recorded, I was designing that flexibility into the interview from the beginning.
