For Meet the Author, I wanted the environment to tell us something about the people being profiled whenever possible. With David Cone and Jack Curry, there was no more appropriate setting than Yankee Stadium.
I filmed the interview in their broadcast booth, using the stadium itself as part of the visual storytelling rather than treating it simply as a backdrop. The location gave us an immediate connection to Cone’s history as a Yankee and to the broadcasting careers both men built around the game.
As with the other films in the series, the objective was to move beyond a standard book interview and create a concise portrait of the authors within their own world—letting the setting, conversation and supporting imagery work together to give readers a stronger connection to both the people and the book.
