Meet the Author goes beyond the book jacket to introduce readers to the people behind Hachette’s titles. In this episode, Hello, Cookie Dough author and DŌ founder Kristen Tomlan shares the story behind her cookbook and the edible cookie dough business that inspired it—all from inside her New York City shop.
As I developed Hachette Book Group’s video content, I was regularly filming authors across Hachette and its imprints. Rather than treating each production as a single promotional asset, I developed recurring content verticals that could turn those shoots into recognizable, repeatable programming. Meet the Author was one of those series.
For Kristen’s episode, I took the production into her world. Over a few hours at her New York City shop, I interviewed her and captured footage throughout the space, creating a more personal profile of both the author and the entrepreneur behind the book.
The broader strategy was to build an ongoing video platform around Hachette’s authors and titles—developing the concepts, producing the original material, and finding multiple editorial ways to connect that content with readers.
