What are the must-have Halloween costumes for kids?

This children's edition of the Top 10 Halloween Costumes countdown brings a group of kids into the studio to run through some of the season's most popular looks.

Built as a playful talk-show-style countdown, the video puts the kids—and the costumes—at the center, giving Costumes.com an entertaining way to showcase multiple products within a single piece of branded content.

How it was made

This was the kids' companion to the adult Top 10 Halloween Costumes video, using the same talk-show format and virtual studio environment I developed for the campaign.

With virtually no production budget, we shot against green screen and placed the kids inside a 3D talk-show set I created in post, turning a minimal physical production into something that felt like a much larger studio show.

None of the kids were professional actors. They were children of coworkers, family members and friends, so part of the production involved creating an environment where nonprofessional young performers could relax, have fun and simply be themselves on camera.

That actually worked in the video's favor. Their natural reactions and personalities gave the countdown an energy that would have been difficult to manufacture, while the talk-show format provided enough structure to keep everything moving.

Producing both adult and kids' editions from the same underlying concept also made the production highly efficient: one format, one virtual environment, a resourceful cast—and multiple pieces of audience-specific content.
