The Yummy World crew is headed to San Diego Comic-Con—and apparently they have something to say about it.
Created as a social announcement for Yummy World's Comic-Con presence, this short promo turns the brand's colorful plush characters into an animated ensemble, giving them voices, personalities and a little pre-convention excitement.
The actual shoot for this piece couldn't have been much simpler: I only needed one basic shot of the Yummy World plush characters.
Everything else happened in post.
Using Adobe Character Animator, I animated the individual plushes to make them appear to talk and interact, transforming static products into characters with distinct personalities. I also performed the voices myself, developing different vocal performances for the characters and synchronizing those performances with the animation.
Because the piece was created for Instagram, I kept the idea compact and immediate. Rather than treating it like a traditional product announcement, I let the characters make the announcement themselves.
It's a small project, but a good example of how I like to approach limited production resources. One shot of several plush toys could have remained exactly that. Animation, performance and a simple character-based concept turned it into a complete piece of branded entertainment.
