Value-based care promises a healthcare system focused on better outcomes, greater efficiency and shared accountability—but delivering on that promise is complicated. This film explores the gap between the ideal and the operational and financial realities healthcare organizations face when putting value-based care into practice.
Value-based care could easily be illustrated through systems, data and healthcare economics. I wanted the visual storytelling to begin somewhere more fundamental: what does “value” actually mean when the subject is human health?
That led to a warmer visual language centered on care, empathy, connection and human experience. Rather than illustrating every line literally, I used imagery thematically—moving between the institutional realities of healthcare and the people those systems are ultimately designed to serve.
The approach helped make an abstract business concept more emotionally accessible while reinforcing the larger idea behind HRG’s work: financial sustainability and better patient care don't have to be opposing goals.
