The Deal: Three Kings Tattoo

Producer, Director, Editor

Kayden Kross takes The Deal on location for a visit to Three Kings Tattoo, stepping inside the shop to explore the artists, personalities and culture behind the ink.

The segment was part of The Deal’s mix of studio conversations, entertainment coverage and location-based features—using New York itself as a source for stories and experiences that could take the show beyond the studio.

How it was made

Location remotes were one of the building blocks I used to give The Deal variety and keep the weekly magazine format visually interesting.

For this segment, I took Kayden out of the studio and into Three Kings Tattoo, where the environment itself provided much of the production value. Rather than trying to impose a heavily constructed format on the visit, the goal was to let Kayden interact naturally with the people at the shop while capturing the artwork, equipment and atmosphere that made the location interesting.

Like the other remotes, the piece was produced independently from the studio portions of the show and later edited as a self-contained feature that could be programmed into a finished episode.

That modular approach was fundamental to how I produced The Deal. Studio host material, interviews, roundtables, performances and location stories could all be scheduled and captured separately, allowing me to concentrate production into a handful of shoot days and then assemble those pieces into a month of weekly programming.
